Hi. I’m Crystal. I’ve been a high school teacher for almost 15 years, and came from a graphic design background. I am dual-certified in the visual fine arts, and in CCTE (vocational) digital arts. I’ve also gone through the rigorous National Board Certification process and achieved a 10 year certification for secondary art education. I’ve taught the following subjects so far:
I’m excellent at adapting to and incorporating new technologies and concepts, which I did frequently as I was assigned courses outside my design experience, like 3D Animation, ceramics, and game design.
I’m very experienced at successfully communicating across different audiences, from grandparents and parents, to teens, to colleagues, industry partners, and administrators. I’m skilled at breaking ideas down to manageable parts. I keep the big goals in mind, and I’m not afraid to bring a group of adults back on track. I also try very hard to be easy to work with, ensuring that all viewpoints at the table have a chance to be heard.
I’m task and goal-oriented. I excel at planning and executing big goals. I spent years as the lead for my district department, coordinating with administration, making sure my colleagues had what they needed to not only stay current and do their jobs, but also move in new directions with our state and district educational goals.
I’m an expert at learning new things quickly, and pivoting as necessary. I’m great at problem solving, and I’m very visual.
